Applications are now open for the Managing Global Governance Academy programme commencing in August to November 2024 at the German Institute of Development and Sustainability in Bonn, Germany.
The Managing Global Governance (MGG) Academy is a training and dialogue format that brings together young professionals from six rising powers (Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, South Africa) and the European Union. It supports future change makers who are dedicated to global cooperation and transformation to sustainability.

Degree level
The MGG Academy is a full time, three-months programme that takes place from 24 August – 24 November 2024 in Bonn, Germany.

10 March 2024 Deadline for applications to be uploaded online
April 2024 Selection of participants and posting of preliminary invitations
April 2024 Posting of official invitations, application for visa
June 2024 Submission of visa documents and flight itineraries
24 August 2024 Arrival in Bonn, Germany
24 November 2024 End of the MGG Academy in Bonn, Germany
Who can apply?
Participants must:
- Work in government institutions, think tanks, research institutions, civil society and private sector;
- Be a national or a permanent resident of one of the participating countries;
- Have the support of their employer (written support required as part of the application);
- Have a university degree (minimum Bachelor);
- Have a passion for global cooperation and sustainable development;
- Be ready to participate in an intensive, full-time programme (8 hours per day, 40 weekly working hours);
- Work in a partner institution of the MGG network or in an institution that is interested in future cooperation;
- Have a very good proficiency in English (equivalent to B2 level of the CEFR);
- Be between 25 and 40 years old (older applicants, who have taken longer periods of parental leave, may be considered);
- Have at least three years of working experience (non-remunerated experience is also recognized);
- Be a team player, sensitive to other cultures and open to a broad variety of working methods.
Employers are requested to:
- Grant their employees a special leave of absence for the training period and relieve them of job-related tasks for the duration of the MGG Academy;
- Cover the costs of the round trip to and from Germany;
- Come to an agreement ensuring the living standards of the employee’s relatives in their home country;
- Support their employees in transferring the newly acquired competencies to their job.
Fields of Study
The MGG Academy combines academic modules on developing solutions for pressing global challenges with leadership modules to enhance personal and social competencies and an action-oriented project work.

Scholarship offer
Participants in the MGG Academy are granted a scholarship, which covers:
- the current costs of living;
- all MGG-related costs;
- travel expenses in Germany and Europe; and
- health, personal liability and accident insurances during the training.
