The Republic of Türkiye is inviting applications for the 2025 Türkiye Scholarships for full time or short-term study programmes in Türkiye tenable in September 2025.

Türkiye Scholarships provide outstanding international students and researchers with the opportunity to study and receive scholarships at the most prestigious universities in Türkiye.

Türkiye Scholarships aims to build a network of future leaders committed to strengthening cooperation among countries and mutual understanding among societies.

Who can apply?

  • Citizens of all countries (including South Africa);
  • Graduates or those who will graduate before August 2025;
  • Applicants must have outstanding academic results:
    • For associate and bachelor's degree candidates: 70%;
    • For graduate candidates: 75%;
  • Age limits:
    • For associate and bachelor's degree programmes: Under 21 years of age;
    • For master’s programmes: being under the age of 30;
    • For PhD programmes: being under the age of 35;
    • For Research Scholarship: being under the age of 50
  • Applicants must meet the entry requirements for their programmes of choice. Some departments and programmes may require additional criteria;
  • Individuals who are currently enrolled in programmes at Turkish universities may not apply at the same level of education they are currently at.

What the scholarship offers

  • Provides university and department placements;
  • Accommodation;
  • Monthly stipend:
    • Undergraduate level: 3.500 TL per month
    • Master’s level: 5.000 TL per month
    • PhD level: 6.500 TL  per month
  • Health insurance;
  • Covers tuition fees;
  • Once-off Flight Ticket (at the beginning of education and when graduating);
  • 1-year Turkish language course.

Fields of Study

Many study programmes in Turkish universities are taught in Turkish language. However, some departments and universities may offer programmes in English and other languages. Candidates who wish to study in such programmes must be able to provide an internationally accepted language proficiency certificate. 

Undergraduate Scholarship Programmes

Engineering, social sciences, health sciences and basic sciences.

Almost all undergraduate programmes are available.

Before applying, applicants must research using the search engine on the scholarship website.

Graduate Scholarship Programme

Various programmes are offered at the master’s and PhD levels in the fields of social sciences, humanities, natural sciences and engineering.

Almost all fields of study are offered except the health departments.

The universities and departments that candidates can choose may vary depending on the educational background of the candidates. Candidates can only choose from the universities and departments offered to them in the system.

Application process

Applications for the Türkiye Scholarships are strictly online via Türkiye Scholarships Application System

The following supporting documents should be uploaded on the application system:

  • A valid identity document, ID card or passport;
  • A recent photo of the candidate (not older than 1 year);
  • National exam results (Grade 12);
  • All qualifications certificates and transcripts;
  • International exam results (GRE, GMAT, SAT, etc.) if required by the chosen university or programme;
  • International language test results such as TOEFL, DELF if required by the chosen university or programme;
  • A proposal for a research topic and a written example of the research you have carried out (only for PhD applications).
